Where I want to go.

I’m Alessio, based in Palermo, and I have been developing software for about seven years. I spent most of that time on the frontend; today I am bringing the same attention to backend development and AI.

Along the way, I am completing my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Catania. After several years at work, I chose to make room for studying again: using a tool well is rewarding, but understanding what happens beneath the surface interests me even more.

My experience on LinkedIn

The journey so far.

I started with an internship, grew across frontend and full-stack development and, step by step, went on to coordinate people and projects.

This was my first role in frontend development, after a 300-hour Angular course by the Etna HiTech consortium.

SINCE JANUARY 2026

Right now, study comes first.

In 2026 I decided to pause professional work. I want to complete my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and prepare for a Master’s in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence with the time and attention they deserve.

Study to understand,
not just to pass.

I did not return to university to add another line to my résumé. I did it to give stronger foundations to the experience I already have and to make my way, steadily, into backend development and AI.

THE METHOD

I try first, then verify.

I prefer short, focused sessions. I try to answer without hints and write the code myself. When I get something wrong, that is exactly where I go back: I revisit an idea until I can explain it in my own words and use it without shortcuts.

THE PHYSICS EXPERIENCE

The reason comes before the formula.

While preparing for Physics, I realised how much I enjoy going deeper. Remembering a step is not enough: I want to know why it works and which assumptions make it valid.

I take the same approach to software: try things, ask questions, check assumptions and avoid stopping at the first solution that merely seems to work.

THE DIRECTION

Building complete applications.

My goal is to move confidently across interfaces, server logic, data and AI features. To get there, I am strengthening my backend knowledge and the theoretical foundations of artificial intelligence, always starting from real problems.

AI is also part of how I study: I use it to compare reasoning, ask for feedback and test whether what I think I understand actually holds up.

What I know.
What I’m learning.

01

Frontend development

This is where I started: designing and building web interfaces while looking for the right balance between clarity, reliability and attention to detail.

02

CSS and accessibility

I enjoy turning a design into an interface that works well on every screen and for as many people as possible.

Beyond the interface

Over the years, I have also had the chance to work with reactive programming and backend technologies.

Backend · developing further

This is the area I am exploring most right now, moving between practical projects, conceptual study and plenty of experimentation.

Learning is part
of my work.

University is only one part of the journey. Over the years, I have chosen focused courses to understand the tools I use more deeply and get closer, one step at a time, to new ones.
